Today's show is about an obscure quote. It is not a quote that you will find in any of the usual places you would look up famous quotes because it is not a famous quote. It came from Angela Duckworth's outstanding book, Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.
In the book, Duckworth talks about meeting Pete Carroll, the head coach of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. She is visiting him to see how he is using the elements of grit that he read in her book and studied in other areas to create the team culture he seeks with the Seahawks.
The quote is what he said to her when he first greeted her. It is such a simple statement, and yet, it is one that if we all approached every meeting and every relationship we had with others in this way, our world and their worlds would be so much better.
