Great Quotes for Coaches Podcast
Wooden - Pyramid - Mortar #10 - Faith
Show Notes

Today we continue the series discussing John Wooden's "Pyramid of Success" and a variety of quotes in support of it. We have finished all the blocks of the Pyramid, and today we will finish the  mortar elements that hold the blocks together.

The first nine mortar elements were Ambition, Sincerity, Adaptability, Honesty, Resourcefulness, & Reliability, Fight, & Integrity, & Patience.

Mortar Element #10 is Faith. Wooden put the final two Mortar Elements, Patience & Faith, at the top because he felt they were the most important ones and that you couldn't have Competitive Greatness (the final building block at the top of the pyramid) without them.

Faith was a huge part of John Wooden's life. He was a devout Christian and believed strongly in God and in the teachings of Jesus. While he did not preach to his players or push his religion onto others, he lived his life as he thought Jesus would want him to. He felt that by being an example of Jesus's teachings, that would be the best way to expose people to them. There is much to take from this episode on Faith, whether you are a Christian or not, as there are a lot of different ways to have faith in our world.

You will hear eight quotes today in support of the concept of Faith.

Next week we will wrap up this series when we reach The Apex of the Pyramid of Success.
