Today we continue the series discussing quotes in support of the building blocks of John Wooden's "Pyramid of Success." We are into block #10, and it's the first block on the third tier of the pyramid. This one is devoted to the characteristic he called, Condition.
Wooden said the third tier is the "heart" of the Pyramid. While he certainly could have meant that it is right in the middle, I get the feeling that he also meant that these three blocks - Condition, Skill, and Team Spirit - are essential to people sustaining their success, just like your heart is essential to you staying alive.
For most of us, when we read "Condition," the first thing that we will think of is physical conditioning. Of course, that is a huge part of the concept that he discusses in this block. But he goes on to say that it also entails mental, moral, and spiritual conditioning. Thus, he called this block the "Character Block." Without us being in great shape physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually, we will lack the character necessary to be the best we can be.
You will hear a few quotes in today's episode. I chose some that dealt with physical conditioning, but that you can also see a component that expands that idea to something larger. I also chose a couple of quotes that deal specifically with character since that is what Wooden said this block was focused on.
