Ep. 26 - Summitt - Admit Your Mistakes
Show Notes

Today's quote comes to us from one of the great women's basketball coaches of all time, Pat Summitt. Heck, Pat Summitt is one of the great coaches of either gender and for any sport of all time. She also has numerous quotes that I have used through the years, and her book "The Definite Dozen" is a great book for leaders of any kind to read.

Today's quote is in the Accountability section of my soon-to-be-released updated version of my book, "Senior Salute," a gift book for coaches to give to their senior athletes on their senior nights or end-of-season banquets. Accountability is one of those key characteristics that people need to have if they (and their teams) are going to ever improve and reach their potential. Summitt says, “Accountability is essential to personal growth, as well as team growth. How can you improve if you're never wrong? If you don't admit a mistake and take responsibility for it, you're bound to make the same one again.”

Have you ever known anyone who believes they have it all figured out and can't be corrected? Do you have any players like that? Are you like that? Here is the quote to get in front of those people and then discuss with them what it means to help them finally figure out how they are hurting themselves and their teams with the attitude they are displaying. Check out the episode to hear my ideas on the quote to then turn around and use with your teams, friends, fellow coaches, and possibly, yourself.
