Show Notes

Today we have a real treat. It is the first episode of the podcast where you get to hear someone else other than me! I am going to be mixing in episodes throughout our time together where I will be interviewing other coaches to hear some of their favorite quotes or quotes that were especially motivational or inspirational for them.

We kick off this format with a coach who is a good friend of mine. His name is Mark Albert. Mark is a Cross Country coach and a newly retired basketball coach in Hamilton, Montana. Mark is one of those coaches who you would love to have your child be coached by and who you would love to have on your staff. He is all about kids and trying to provide them a positive athletic experience that also teaches kids life lessons.

His quote today is a great one from former NFL football coach, Dick Vermeil. "If you don't invest very much, then defeat doesn't hurt very much and winning is not very exciting." Listen in as Mark explains what the quote means to him and then tells a few stories of experiences with his teams that help to illustrate the power of that quote.

I failed to mention in the episode that Mark spoke on the TedX stage this past year. It was a great TedTalk on a subject that needs to be taught in all high schools around the country. You can watch the TedTalk at the following link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXO0eT9Eyqo

If you would like to connect with Mark, he can be reached through his school/athletics webpage here - https://www.hsd3.org/Domain/124.
