The catalyst for today's quote is the off-season that my team is currently in. As a basketball coach, I often tell players that basketball players are not made from November to March; they are made from March to November. (Maybe that's a quote I should talk about in the future!)

Of course, what I'm talking about when I say that is that players must put in time in the off-season to becoming better players. But we also talk about the idea that you don't just "put in time." You need to make sure that you maximize the time you are putting in by working extremely hard at what you need to work on to grow, develop, and improve.

This quote comes to us from Bruce Brown, the director of Proactive Coaching. As you probably know, I am one of the members of the Proactive Coaching speaking team. I first heard this line about 20 years ago when I heard Bruce give our "7 Ways to Lead" presentation. Since 2008 (when I joined the speaking team), I have been saying this line whenever I give that talk or whenever I do our "Captains & Coaches Workshop."

It is a great line about the impact that those who are committed to your programs have on those who are not as committed. You're going to love this one, and you're going to want to use it with your teams. . . immediately!
